Coming in for a teeth whitening session for the first time? Here’s some information about how to prepare and what to expect. See you soon!
Your first appointment for your teeth whitening treatment will be longer than a usual session because the clinician will first assess the situation and plot out a course of action with you.
During the initial consultation, we’ll go over your oral health, the level of staining and your treatment options with you. We will also assess whether your teeth are sensitive to the whitening gel. If they are then we will provide you with pain killers and use a gentler whitening gel.
Once we’ve completed the pre-treatment assessment, we’ll help you settle into the clinicians chair and provide you with sunglasses and protective gel for the area around your mouth.
Then a tray containing the whitening gel will be inserted into your mouth against your teeth. The trays are transparent to allow the special LED light to pass through and activate the whitening agent. The combination of the gel and light gently removes the stains, leaving you with a whiter, brighter smile once the treatment is done.
Depending on the level of staining you may require 1-3 trays in a session. Each tray is applied for around 20 minutes. Your initial session with us will likely go on for 90 minutes so be prepared. Once the session is complete, you can go about your normal daily activities. There is no recovery down time.
That’s it! Once completed, you can choose to take home some of our at home whitening products for regular maintenance or book in a follow up appointment with us. The results generally last for up to 3 years. If you have any further questions, check out our FAQ section or get in touch with us.
